Conveyors for Harsh Environments from mk North America

When it comes to material handling, some situations are tougher than others. High heat, extreme cold, caustic chemicals, corrosive conditions, and more can all contribute to what are called harsh environments.

When you need a conveyor for such an environment, it’s important to know that the system you get will be up to the challenge. That’s why mk North America specializes in the creation of engineered conveyor solutions custom-suited to harsh environments and other special conditions.

Conveyors for Extreme Temperatures

Some of the most common harsh environments are those in which extreme cold or high heat creates operating conditions outside the normal working parameters of standard conveyors.

In the case of high heat environments, like those found ovens, cookers, and some food processing environments, many of mk’s CleanMove stainless steel-framed conveyor systems are ideally suited to withstanding the most rigorous of extremes. Specialty belts for extreme temperatures are also available with mk’s aluminum-framed conveyor systems, including those made from fiberglass, steel mesh, and more.

For applications where extreme cold is a concern, mk can create conveyor systems which utilize space heaters and specialty bearings to ensure reliable operation.

Conveyors for Washdown and Sanitary Environments

In many food and pharmaceutical applications, government and industry standards dictate that conveyor systems are regularly subjected to harsh washdown processes in order to prevent contamination and poor sanitary outcomes. mk’s CleanMove line of stainless steel conveyors, as the name suggests, is also especially equipped to handle such applications.

CleanMove conveyors like the CFB-600 can withstand rigorous cleaning protocols that would leave many other conveyors damaged or corroded beyond reasonable operating conditions. For cleanroom applications, mk can offer conveyors capable of operating in environments up to cleanroom class 1,000.

Abrasive Environments

mk Conveyors can also be modified to accommodate abrasive environments and applications, such as those involving sharp, rough, or other difficult materials. These can be common in applications involving glass, ceramics, automotive manufacturing, and more. Custom belting options as well as slider beds, drive assemblies, and special motors may be warranted in these applications.
