mk Finds VersaMove Project Engineer in Dave Calvo

Posted on

mk North America is proud to announce that Dave Calvo has joined its team as the Project Engineer for VersaMove. mk also provides pallet systems and t-slot aluminum extrusion for companies all over the world.

Calvo joined mk in the closing months of 2014 to lead the charge on the newly branded product line VersaMove. VersaMove is a high quality modular pallet conveyor system that offers an unprecedented level of versatility in the manufacturing process. The system was designed from the ground up to not only improve manufacturing productivity and the quality of the finished product, but to allow for maximum process flexibility at the same time.

The VersaMove system offers conveyors in three different sizes, all of which are designed to suit a wide range of different applications depending on the needs of the business. VersaMove Standard, Plus, and Ultra, are all pre-engineered modular and can easily be expanded and reconfigured as the manufacturing needs of a business change from one term to the next.

"This was a great opportunity to start out at the ground level with a company with great growth potential with an exciting new product", said Calvo. "I have been working here at mk for nearly a year now and I enjoy the position and the challenges. We have seen a tremendous amount of interest in the product and the product has been well received."

Calvo was originally hired by mk in July of 2014. At that time he left a world leading robotics company that specialized in Cartesian Robots that catered to the injection molding industry. Calvo was originally approached by Mike D'Addario, who he counts as both a good friend in addition to a previous coworker. Calvo indicated that a large part of the reason why he was excited to join the mk team had to do with his eagerness to work with D'Addario once again.

Calvo has worked with a wide range of esteemed companies throughout his career and is incredibly proud of the work that he does on a daily basis. He began as an Assistant Controls Engineer at InjectTech Engineering where he designed and built new generation power and control cabinets for Schick and other organizations. He also designed and built various automated work cells.

Next, he moved onto Eppendorf Manufacturing as an Automation Tech. He installed and maintained complex proprietary Swiss made automation cells and regularly traveled to Germany to disassemble these cells, where they would then be set up in Enfield, Connecticut.

Calvo was also a Project Manager/Applications Engineer at Wittmann Battenfeld in Torrington, Connecticut, where he designed and sold complex automated work cells for the Injection molding industry. He was in charge of the management of multi-million dollar projects for Henkel in Richmond during this time.

His responsibilities on the VersaMove project involve both designing and selling pallet conveying systems, as well as managing large conveying projects.
