A narrow conveyor systems from mk North America

When it comes to conveyors and other material handling systems, it doesn’t always follow that bigger is better. This is especially true when an application deals with particularly small parts.

Medical products and pharmaceuticals, bottle caps, small vials, wine corks, flat washers, nuts and bolts, and others are just some of the small parts that may not be suited for larger conveyors. In particular, narrow-belted conveyor systems may be required to keep small parts and freight in a single-file arrangement for the purposes of quality control, assembly, product safety, and more.

For those in industries where small part conveyance is necessary, mk North America offers a number of options. Keep reading to learn more.

Narrow Belt Conveyor Systems

Two of mk’s most popular standard conveyor systems, the GUF-P 2000 and the GUF-P MINI, are particularly well-suited for narrow configurations.

The GUF-P 2000 boasts a frame that’s only 50 millimeters (about 2 inches) tall, with a minimum width of 50 millimeters and a minimum length of only 310 millimeters (a little over 12 inches). The GUF-P MINI has a similar configuration, but with a shorter 35 millimeter tall frame and 75 millimeter minimum width.

Options of belting material with the GUF-P 2000 and GUF-P MINI systems are diverse: smooth, tacky, textured, cleated, food-grade, anti-static, and other belting options are all available for narrow conveyor configurations in a variety of applications. Custom parts transfers may also be available depending on an application’s specific needs.

Other Conveyor Solutions for Small Parts

If you’re looking for a material handling solution for small parts, but a flat belt conveyor doesn’t fit your needs, mk also provides a number of custom conveyors and belting options that may be able to help. Vacuum conveyors, for instance, can be made in widths between 50 and 1200 millimeters (4 feet), and use air suction to keep small, light, or flat parts on the line while being conveyed at high speeds.
